Who this policy covers
This policy describes the current Sew Certain app and this website. For privacy questions or requests to remove correspondence, email support@SewCertain.com.
Your work stays on your device
The current app does not require an account. Saved fabrics, notes, projects, calculations, checklist progress, recent searches, QR scan memory and thread-match history are stored on your device. The app does not send this saved work to a Sew Certain account or cloud database. If you choose a Share action, the content you select is passed to the service or recipient you choose. Device backups and services you use to share content have their own privacy settings.
Camera and photos
Camera access is used when you choose to photograph fabric or scan a QR code. Thread Matcher measures the area inside your sample ring on the device and compares it with the bundled thread catalog. Thread-matching photos are not uploaded or added to your photo library by the app. Temporary camera and sampling files are deleted when you retake a photo or leave the thread-matching screen. Recent matches store the sampled color and matching shade information, rather than the original photograph. A photo you deliberately attach to a project is stored with that project on your device until you remove it.
Optional weather suggestions
If you enable weather suggestions and grant location permission, the app rounds your coordinates to a broad area before requesting a forecast from Open-Meteo. Sew Certain does not save your location in its persistent app data. The weather provider receives the rounded coordinates and technical request information, including your IP address. Open-Meteo describes its own logging and retention in its Terms & Privacy. You can turn weather suggestions off in the app and manage location permission in your device settings.
Email and feedback
App feedback and website contact links open your email app so you can review and send the message. They do not send a message automatically. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content or attachments you choose to send. We use that correspondence to respond to your request, provide support or investigate a reported problem. Contact us if you want us to remove correspondence we hold, subject to any records we need to retain for legal obligations.
This website
The website files we distribute include optional Google Analytics statistics. The live hosting provider adds a traffic-measurement script and may process technical and traffic information, including IP addresses, browser information and requested URLs. The host’s handling is described in GoDaddy’s privacy policy. The page also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to obtain those font files. Links to the shop, Open-Meteo, or other external services take you to services with their own policies. The interactive fabric and comparison previews do not upload your app projects or notes.
Managing or deleting app data
Use Settings → Privacy & Data → Erase all data on this device to remove saved work and history. Display preferences such as text size, units and haptics are retained by that action. Individual project photos and saved items can also be removed through the app’s controls. Deleting the app removes its local app data; separately shared copies or device backups are managed through the service holding them.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy when the app or website’s data practices change, including before enabling a new signup, analytics or purchase integration. If you email us to request a launch notification, our team uses your email address to reply and send the requested launch notice. Reply to an update to cancel that request. Beta and launch signup
The optional signup form uses Google Forms, with responses stored in a private Google spreadsheet managed by the Sew Certain team. It asks for your email and whether you want beta access or a launch notification. Your name, beta device and signup source are optional. A campaign link can fill in the source so we can count completed requests from that campaign. We use this information to respond to your request and send the updates you select. Signup responses are not published or sold. Reply to an update to cancel or request removal. Google processes form information under its privacy policy.
Optional website statistics
With your permission, Google Analytics measures website visits, campaign sources, navigation and signup-button clicks. It does not receive your signup email, name or form answers from our website code. Advertising storage and personalization are disabled in our tag configuration. You can allow or decline these statistics and change your choice using Statistics settings in the footer. We remember your statistics choice in local storage and campaign labels for the current browser session. Google Analytics may use analytics cookies when allowed. Hosting-provider traffic measurement is separate, as described above. Learn more in Google’s privacy policy.
